From the very beginning, Bouter has been a true pioneer in the world of effortless appetizers. They built something that genuinely changed how Dutch consumers think about entertaining appetizers (borrel) at home. Over time, Bouter wanted to make the next step: how do you lead a category you created and stay distinctive from others?
We started with a foundational question: how do people actually borrel in 2026, and where is it heading? From that vision, we analysed trends, collected rich inspiration and mapped emerging growth spaces. The result was a rich wave of innovation across the range: vivid, colourful olives; super loaded dips; marinated cheese cubes; a line of warm bites; next-level houmous; and beautifully crafted Mediterranean snacks such as sun-dried tomatoes with basil.
Alongside the product innovations, Bouter also rethought the practicalities. Space efficient square containers and oven-safe golden dishes are packaging changes that make a real difference on a crowded table.
It was a pleasure to help facilitate this project. Bouter showed exactly why they remain the reference point for this category and deliver all for a one-stop shop for a great appetizer board.
